My brother recently moved to Charleston - the perfect excuse to go visit this historic city.  Charleston has pre-civil war history and it shows in every building.  The city has many of it's original buildings and is sprinkled with modern day shopping, bars and cupcakeries.

Charleston is not a large city, making it a convenient and walkable city.  The main attractions in Charleston are the Pier, Rainbow Row and King Street.  EVERYTHING is on King Street - it's the main street in Charleston and you can go back and forth, shopping and bar hopping (my faves).

For all of you Nicholas Sparks fans - The Notebook was filmed in Charleston! To say that I was excited would be an understatement.  David (my brother) and I checked out Boone Plantation which was featured in the movie.  We also made plans to visit Cypress Gardens, where the boat scene was filmed, but mother nature was working against us and it started to downpour.

Overall, Charleston is a beautiful city.  There were many times when I felt as if I had stepped back in time (minus the wardrobe). It's the most laid back and relaxed city I have ever been to, but that's what makes it so charming.
